West Yellowstone to Rawlins, Wy Need answer fast

We are in West Yellowstone and leave for home, Texas, tomorrow morning. We are looking at going east on hwy 20 through Yellowstone then south through the park on 191 through east side of Grand Teton NP to Moran, then Hwy 26/287 all the way to Rawlins, Wy on I-80, then on to Cheyenne. Our 5ver is 40 feet, will the roads south of Yellowstone on to Rawlins as routed be ok? Yellowstone I am familiar with, the rest I am not.
I am looking for a quick opinion here as we leave bright and early in the morning. My truckers atlas shows it being ok, and I do not see any switch back roads along this route.

RE: Installed Doran TPMS yesterday...

I just installed my new Doran 360RV system also. I thought about hardwiring also, but the wire does not unplug from the receiver so once hardwired you cannot remove it from your dash or wherever it is located. I want the ability to put it away when not needed.
One thing I fing myself wanting perfection in I keep going tire to tire adding 1 psi to get all my tires to indicate exactly the same, I'm within 1 psi, I'm giving up. :)

RE: Anyone done a Disc Brake Conversion??

Jeff, I responded to your PM. The Sensabrake actuator is pretty new to th US. Iit is air over hydraulic but uses an self contained electric pump and resevoir to build and store the aire pressure. This allows the brakes to be applied and released very fast as the energy required to apply the brakes is already there in the stored air pressure and resevoir, it doesn't have to take the time for a servo or motor to pump or move and actuator rod. It is fast and very responsive. When you apply and release the brakes with my truck off and windows down I can hear the brakes release with a sound like when you pop an air tool off a pressurized line. After several applications you will hear the compressor kick on and start to run. It runs for about 90 seconds the first time to build pressure and fill the resevoir then it shuts off. The amount this unit cycles and draws electrically is very very little had compared to other elec/hyd actuators. The breakaway feature is, if the unit loses electrical power from the tow vehicle, read if the 7 pin plug comes disconnected, the brakes are applied using the stored air pressure. A poster from a while back was using the 1000psi smaller unit on a multiple waverunner trailer and said he initially had problems with intermittant power through his 7 pin plug, he switched to the round pin semi truck style and never had anymore problems. Personally I have not experienced this. My 7 pin locks in tight and the foldaway cover comes down with a tab which will not allow the plug to be removed without raising the cover again. Just for added insurance I have a velcro strap that I wrap around it so there is no way it can come out short of the fiver coming unhitched and yanking it out as it should.
I leave Saturday on a 4000 mile trip and will report back on the performance, we are going all over the Badlands, Devils Tower, Yellowstone, Colorado, and back to Texas. It will put the brakes to a severe test but I am positive they will work fine.
To echo what others have said, disk brakes are the only way to go, I will not have another trailer without them.

RE: Why are Powerstroke Diesels so Loud

Its funny, us diesel guys know diesels to the point of you hear a truck behind you and you know what brand and rough age of it before you see it. My wife still cant tell between a ford, gm, or dodge. I have tried to explain how each sounds, I guess it just isn't something non diesel conniseurs care about.

RE: Sidney, NE to Hill City, SD

Thanks to both of you. My parents are driving from Oregon, and we are coming from Texas and meeting at Rafter Bar J Ranch for a few days and then going to Yellowstone from there.

Sidney, NE to Hill City, SD

Just curious about Hwy 385 from Sidney, Ne to Custer, Sd, and then Hwy16 from Custer, SD to Hill City, SD. How about then northe of Hill City to Deadwood then on north to I90 via hwy14a and 85? How are the clearances along this route? I am about 13' 2" tall. Is this highway pretty good?
Thanks

RE: Tips on waxing cap

I use a ladder to reach as high as I can, then get on top , lay on my stomach and only reach over my arm. I am afraid of heights also. My wife and most friends laugh at my fear. They do that because I have been a Army helicopter and airplane pilot for just at 20 years now and love flying. It just isn't the same as climbing on a roof or looking over and edge. Conquer uyour fears, still working on mine. :)

RE: feedback on Grand Junctions

I have a 2006 35TMS, had a few small issues. Dutchmen fixed them outside of the warranty period no questions asked. I for one think they have given great service and are a great coach for the price.

RE: Latest fuel prices from AAA

What ticks me off is all the "Hybrid" hype. My two VW TDI diesels get better overall mileage than even the Prius. When I see a Prius out on the Interstate I have to laugh, I am getting 50+ MPG and they think they are doing well but they are in a overpriced ugly econobox that isn't doing what it was designed to do. (stop and go traffic in the city)

RE: 5ver water pump problems

Well I found the problem. Not enough water in my tank!!! I thought it was full do to back flowing and my indicator I though was wrong. I did have 1/3 of a tank, but do to tank flexing that wasnt even enough. I will have to add a little more support under it so that it doesnt droop between the supports. It seems to be supported well with 5 cross members between the 2 main support rails but the tank even flexes between those. My tank filling problem I found was due to the fill line drooping down between the port and the tank. I strapped that up and now it fills easily. I never would have though 1/3 of a tank wouldnt be enough...wow.

RE: 5ver water pump problems

I blew the lines out with air. The bypass on the water heater was never used. And the intake valve is open. It gets a little water, just not enough.

RE: 5ver water pump problems

Water out the city inlet or the water tank inlet? Only water that came out the water tank inlet was when I filled the tank and it backed up. So where do I poke my finger? I can look through my pump access and see the back of my water panel and dont see anything that would be a check valve on any of the inlets.

5ver water pump problems

I was working on sanitizing my water system today and ran into a snag. I filled the water tank, added the proper amount of bleach and then....
I turned on the water pump but it never shut off. So I went out and peeked through the access hole and could see that the clear screen-filter bowl is not filled but sputtering air and water. A little history, I emptied my water tank last year prior to going to Iraq. I didnt turn on the pump until after the water tank was full. So what is wrong? Have I lost prime? How do I get it back? Nothing else has changed. But it is pumping more air than water. Is there an easy way to do this? I would appreciate any help.
Thanks.

RE: Greasing Bearing

I just put disc brakes on my trailer. Chinese bearings came with the Kodiak kit. I replaced all the bearings and races with US made Timkens before I installed the kit. When comparing the Timken to the chinese bearing the difference is obvious. Go with good quality bearings for good service and peace of mind.

RE: Inconsiderate People don't know how to park

A good joke back when you could pop the hood on cars from the exterior was take a wire with alligator clips, clip one end to the positive brake switch lead the other to the horn. Every time they hit the brakes the horn honks, takes them a while to figure it out. My friend tried to drive home without using the brakes, he sat at a light horn honking the whole time until he realzed he could shut the car off and wait, still funny. nThis is something of course you needed a little time and planning for. Mainly did this in high school as practical joke on friends.
